Help! I’ve been in an accident. What should I do?

  1. Stay Calm
  2. Make sure your care is stopped and that the ignition is off.
  3. Call 911 if someone is injured, if the vehicle is non-drivable, or icy ou suspend the other driver may be under the influence.
      1. Do not move any injured parties unless you need to move them in order to save their life.
      2. For hit and run accidents, call the Saskatoon Police at 306-975-2375.
      3. If the police do attend the scene, ask them for a file number.
  4. If neither party is injured (and it is safe to do so), move your vehicle to the side of the road out of the way of traffic and turn ignition off.
      1. If you cannot drive your car, make sure your hazard lights are turned on.
  5. Exchange contact information and license plate numbers with the other driver. Be sure to get their name, address, telephone number and insurance information.
      1. Do not discuss fault, responsibility, or circumstances with the other driver(s). This is the job of the insurance company.  Contact with the other driver ends here.
      2. Do not sign anything if you have not read it or do not understand it.  Whatever it is, it can wait until you have had time to look at it more carefully.
  6. If it safe to do so, take photos at the scene of the accident with your phone if you have one available.
  7. Report the accident by telephone at 306-683-2100 or submit an SGI Auto E-Claim within 24 hours if possible.
  8. Your adjuster will contact you to set up an appointment.  If you vehicle isn’t drivable, ask SGI to have it towed to Alloy Collision Centre.
  9. Email or call Alloy Collision Centre at 306-374-3831, include your CLAIM# and VIN#.  To book an appointment online please visit Fix My Ride  at alloycollision.com.
  10. Alloy Collision Centre will complete the required information with SGI and call you to set up an appointment.
